This story was both hysterical and sweetly sad. I loved how Ray talked to Dief at the end!

Of course, Dief was having flashbacks of the whole nasty thing in The Wild Bunch where Fraser had the rifle pointed at him, finger on the trigger, taking only a moment to blink back tears before shooting his best friend.

At any rate, I thought this had the exact formula dS used--incredible humour delicately balanced with drama. If you ever get this posted to a website, I'd like a link so I can rec it.
