I liked this very much. It's very understated as Vecchio slowly supresses himself to become quite literally someone else, scars and all. And it got very shivery at the end, which I always enjoy.

(The understatement of this fic reminds me of your "Roots Rain", which I never sent feedback for, but which I read several times to catch all the lovely nuances.)
