In a perfect world, this would be (sigh) even longer and everyone's motivations even clearer--because it's a pretty fucked up situation with everybody coveting everybody else in all sorts of overlapping ways. So I'm glad that I got enough of it down to at least indicate some of the entanglements!! I really appreciate the comment!
