The best costume at the Serenity con involved a four-foot high dinosaur on wheels. I was impressed, usually there's just the usual body paint and leather at these things. At least the ones I go to. I have yet to see someone in Spock ears, and I've been to half a dozen cons in the last couple of years, from tiny 100 attendee events, right up to an 8,000+ event.
