Posting for RubyRose.

I'm posting this for RubyRose, because she doesn't have an LJ yet (sadly, I don't have an invite code for her, anyone have one to spare?).
::hands over the mike to RubyRose::

Hi! Yes, I'm new, I have no livejournal (obviously), and this is my first DS fiction ever, so I'm a little nervous, but I just couldn't resist all this fun. Many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] halimede for a great beta and for posting this for me. Also, I'm fascinated by the whole livejournal thing, so if somebody could help me out with one of those spare codes I keep hearing about I'd really appreciate it!!

‘Today,’ Fraser thought, ‘I came to Chicago because I needed to.’

Because my father died and someone is responsible. Because I cannot let this go unresolved.

It doesn’t matter that I’ve left my country behind. It doesn’t matter that this is a strange city filled with strange people, all going about their incomprehensible lives.

This is the path I have chosen. Justice must be served.

He rolled over, pulling the thin, motel room blanket over his head to ward off the strange, city sounds and garish, neon light streaming in through the window.

‘Today,’ Fraser thought, ‘I came to Chicago because I needed to.’

Because I have a duty to my country. Because I must obey my superiors.

It doesn’t matter that everything I had is gone. It doesn’t matter that my home is destroyed; that my closest friend has disappeared and a stranger has taken his place.

This is the path I have chosen. I must not shirk my responsibilities.

He rolled over, pulling the familiar, scratchy wool of his bedroll closer against the deepening chill.

‘Today,’ Fraser thought, ‘I came to Chicago because I needed to.’

Because I could no longer stay away. Because my life is here, now.

It doesn’t matter that this isn’t my country. It doesn’t matter that I had to resign my position in order to leave; that I am no longer a member of the RCMP.

This is the path I have chosen. I cannot regret my decision.

He rolled over, wrapping his arms around the one person who made it all worthwhile.

And I got it and it works - now I just have to figure out how to use it!

Thank you both so much!
