YOU ARE INVITED to the 27th Division Annual Holiday Party!!



By which we mean
the ds_flashfiction Snippet and Icon Exchange
of Seasonal Cheer! \o/ \o/ \o/

~ Sign-up: Now to Friday the 15th, MIDNIGHT CST (Chicago Time)
~ Get your prompt assignments: Saturday 16th to Monday 18th December, MIDNIGHT CST
~ Post snippets and icons: Tuesday 19th to Friday 22nd December, MIDNIGHT CST

Snippets should be a minimum of 250 words and icon sets should contain 4 to 6 icons

Here's how it works

(Note: These rules are taken pretty much verbatim from out_of_con_txt. If you played there, you know how this works.)

STEP ONE: Get a big hat. Sign-up Here
Sign-ups are open from now until Friday 15 December, Midnight CST. To sign up, you simply COMMENT below with the following info:

1. whether you're going to write or make icons
2. how many snippets/icon sets you want to sign up to write/make (maximum of 2)
3. all the pairings or characters you're willing to write/icon (you can say "any")
4. if there's anything you won't write/icon, eg. if you're gen only, slash only (please keep this as simple as possible)
5. whether you're willing to pinch hit.

For example:
I'm going to write TWO snippets.
I'll write Fraser/Kowalski, Fraser/Vecchio, Fraser/Fraser, Turnbull/Turtle, Thatcher/Mort.
I won't write deathfic, noncon, or anything involving ice cream.
Yes, I'll pinch hit if you need me!

Please keep your sign-up as straightforward as possible.

What happens next?

STEP TWO: We assign you a number.
When sign-ups close (December 15), we'll make a NEW post, listing all the sign-ups -- anonymous but numbered. Then we'll tell you your number (or numbers, if you signed up to write/make two ficlets/icon sets) in a screened comment.


STEP THREE: You Assign Prompts
When we post the ANONYMOUS NUMBERED LIST of everyone's sign-up info, you pick a number (not your own!) to be the person who writes/makes icons for you.

You comment with the number of your choice and an appropriate prompt:
~ a pairing or character, and a SINGLE LINE of dialogue for ficlets; OR
~ a simple character request and/or wording for icons.

For example:
#7 - Gardino/Thatcher "I never would have thought of that."
#18 - I'd like some Mort icons, please - maybe with "Mort" in Old English lettering.

If you signed up to write two ficlets or make two icon sets (or write one ficlet AND make one icon set), you get to choose two gifts to receive as well!

Numbers will be struck off the list as they're claimed.

Comments on this post will NOT be screened.


STEP FOUR: Your Assignment
You'll be able to see the prompt comments, so you can check for yourself. But to make sure there aren't any misunderstandings, when all the sign-ups have been given prompts, we'll reply to your ORIGINAL sign-up comment with your prompt and the name of the person who requested it, just for confirmation. These comments will be screened, too, so it all stays secret. Let's keep this a surprise!


RULES:
You HAVE UNTIL THE 22ND to write and post the ficlet (250-1000ish words; don't stress out about it; think of it like comment fic) or make the icons (sets of 4 to 6; your recipient can pick one or two to be exclusively for them, if they wish, and the rest will be shareable).

Once again: Ficlets should be between 250 and 1000ish words. Do not stress. This is fun! This is distraction! This is a respite from holiday stress!

If you can't write your ficlet/make your icons, PLEASE let us know ASAP so we can pull in a pinch hitter.

You can post your snippets or icon sets any time between 12/19 and 12/22. Read and comment and enjoy and sparkle!
