I, um, have some thoughts about that, though I don't know if you're in the market for that sort of thing. Just ignore me if you're not.

What if you just follow through with the original conflict? Ghost!Fraser says he feared the consequences of activity when he should have been fearing the consequences of inactivity. That would make your ideas for Ray's courtship of Fraser necessary, because he really does have to win Fraser over. Fraser could be uncertain of Ray's intentions, and afraid that Ray's discomfort with the sex (which, as you point out, isn't that severe) will make him run for the hills at any moment. Perhaps if Ray eventually just confesses about the ghost, hoping that will convince Fraser of his intentions, it will have the opposite effect and make Fraser certain Ray is in it for all the wrong reasons (pity, fear of abandonment, a hallucination brought on by Kung Pao chicken), not genuine romantic love. It also might add an element of humor, to have Ray, not really into the physical aspects of the relationship to begin with, be the instigator of each progression of the relationship, having to seduce Fraser into it a little more each time, then surprising himself at how much he likes it.

Not that the story isn't fantastic as is. Because it really, really is. :) I've got to go to work now, but I will squee to my heart's content this evening.
