Thank you! I'm totally excited about writing the longer version. I wasn't really happy with the shorter version. I was happy enough with it that I was willing to post it but there were some technical things that I wanted to polish down, and it didn't feel quite done to me. I didn't quite know what to do with it so I gave up and thought I'd go back to working on the longer F/K story I've got going. But Dess told me how to fix it and now the rewrite is just humming along. I posted a little snippet in a comment above, if you want a peek. God knows how long it's going to be, though, in the end. I have a history of little short pieces turning into 60000 word epics, and that was in fandoms where a 3000 word PWP isn't standard practice. It's already 5000 words, so I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up 15000. My projections for fanfic are historically off by a magnitude of 2-3x, which would mean that 30000-50000 is probably more likely. But this doesn't have enough plot to sustain novel-length weight, so figure ballpark 20000-30000. Heh. I'd better get to work, I guess.
