Honestly, the ending - and mostly everything leading up to it, actually - surprised me just as much as anybody. All I really knew was that I had to get Fraser to Mamet/Ray before he pulled the trigger - except then Mamet really wanted to pull the trigger. We argued. I stole four of his bullets. So there. Neener neener.
I do tend to see Ray as a sort of out of control but in control person pretty much all the time. Ranting and flailing (and possibly getting into a fist fight) and thinking a dozen different thoughts all at the same time is how he figures stuff out. Fraser, on the other hand, is a very linear thinker, and Ray confuses the hell out of him. Someone has to.
After this, I think I need to write something frivolous. Possibly with smut. :)
