i read this a couple of days ago, but needed to put some distance between me and it to get ANY kind of coherent commentary out. i can't remember being so moved, amazed and freaked out by a short story in FOREVER. you SCARED me...i had seen 'men with guns' and was dreading the moment--well, you know which one--but you pulled it together and FIXED IT! for that I LOVE YOU.
even with that, there were many, many times in this story when tears came to my eyes, which is (frankly) unusual for me. what an amazing picture of ray-through-mamet, and your painful-but-not-unbelievable analysis of fraser and ray's working relationship seemed incredibly real, at the same time as it was totally heartbreaking.
this story rocked me back on my heels, i tell ya. GOOD JOB!
