I found writing in this style quite effortless, once I had the idea it seemed to flow easily, but placing the Ray's in such a different place and time and still keeping them them was something that concerned me a lot. Luckily I had an awesome beta to help me work it out and I was very satisfied with the end result.

I really do want to read (or write) that sequel where the Rays go north to finally find peace.

So do I! In fact, I don't know if I want to write it or read someone else's version more.
