“Hey, I said I was tapped out.”

“Nevertheless, I believe you have enough to honour your wager.”

Ray felt a thrill go through him at the assessing stare. He knew that Fraser was no taller than himself, but somehow the man loomed over him, big hands holding him still as that mouth descended towards his. A firm yet gentle suction locked them together, making his head spin. Just like buddy breathing in reverse, he thought as darkness descended.

Lieutenant Walsh stared bemusedly at the body of Stanley Raymond Kowalski as Mort returned with his report.

“Definitely asphyxiation, as I thought. Most strange. It’s as if something sucked every molecule of oxygen out of his body.”
