Okay this was orginally supposed to humourous but the plot bunny in question went all serious on me....
Title: Alleviation of Will
Genre: slash
Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio
Rating: G
Word Count: 1066
Summary: Why does Fraser put himself in danger?
Unbetaed btw, don't hurt me for it.
Alleviation of Will
Ray Vecchio didn’t dare move a muscle. He stood completely still, his breath clearly visible in the cold air of the warehouse. He was trembling slightly but whether it was fear or cold or a combination, he didn’t know. What he did know was he was in what might be termed, a situation. He eyes were focussed on the man in front who was holding Ray’s best friend hostage. He was oblivious to the other officers on the scene. His eyes were fixed on the figure of Fraser.
“Nobody move or the Mountie gets it,” Johnny Fielding, one time drug dealer, shouted, his words echoing off the walls. He was a man one with the gun, and therefore not to trifled with. In his hand was the 9mm beretta he had pulled from the unconscious cop’s hands earlier that day; once he had begun his attempt to run from the law enforcement authorities closing in on him.
Fraser spoke up, “Don’t you mean my hat?”
Fielding was caught off guard. “What?”
“You’re pointing your gun at my hat. Now if you were to shoot me you would only be shooting me in the hat,” Fraser explained. “It would then easy for these officers to get a clear shot.”
Ray’s worry level went up dramatically. No-one had a clear shot. “Fraser, I don’t think now is a good time to be pointing that out.”
“Okay,” Fielding smiled. “So we just take off the hat.” With a quick movement Fielding had removed Fraser’s hat and thrown it into the darkness. He now had the barrel of the gun directly at Fraser’s temple.
He smiled as he backed away from the police. “Now we’re gonna walk out of here, slow.”
“I’m afraid I can’t allow you to do that.” Fraser said his courage not wavering.
“Hey I’m the one with the gun.” Fielding’s tone was belligerent.
“Yes that maybe the case but if I do this….” Fraser quickly twisted himself around, grabbed the gun from Fielding’s hand and placed the man’s hands in a restrained position so fast the shock on Fielding’s face was evident. “It’s a simple way to disarm you.” Fraser finished.

Some time later Ray and Fraser were walking out of the station. Fielding had been booked and was spending time behind bars.
As they approached the Riv Ray stopped and turned to Fraser.
“Benny, why did you do that?” He wanted to know why his friend and lover put himself in such dangerous positions, why he leapt in where angels feared to tread. Did Fraser think how that made Ray feel?
“Do what, Ray?” Fraser knew but avoided the question, Ray seemed angry.
“You know damn well what!”
“I’m afraid I don’t.” Fraser felt a twinge of guilt.
“Why did you tell the guy he had his gun pointed at your hat?”
“I have been shot in the hat before, Ray, and it was an unpleasant experience.”
“Fraser, you could have been shot!” Ray was angry; he had been angry and scared. To lose Fraser was unthinkable. To lose him in such a way too, it was an awful thought and one that kept Ray very much awake at night.
Fraser smiled slightly. “Oh no, Ray! I would never allow that to happen.”
“Why?” Fraser had still done it, still risked his life.
“Because I know what anguish and heartache that would cause you.”
“So you do think about us?”
“Of course I do, Ray.” Fraser moved closer and put a reassuring hand on Ray’s shoulder.
“But you still keep risking your life!” Ray shouted before quietening his tone. “I love you, do you have any idea how I feel when I see you doing stuff like that?” Ray mumbled as he rested against the Riv, turned away from Fraser. Was there any way to get through to his lover?
“Why do you let me do it, Ray?” Fraser gently pulled Ray around so he was facing him once again.
Ray sighed. There was a reason. “Because I love you and that means all of you, even the crazy stuff.”
“Ah, you see you don’t have anything to worry about, Ray.”
“Why’s that?” As far as Ray was concerned he had lots of reasons to worry.
Fraser looked at Ray, making eye contact. “Well, if I were to die then I wouldn’t be with you, and as I love you and intend to spend the rest of my life with you, it’s only logical to keep myself alive for as long as possible.”
Ray had to smile slightly, trust Fraser to bring logic into it. “But you’re going to keep taking crazy risks?” he asked.
“Are you going to let me?” The unspoken statement was of course if you asked I would stop taking risks.
Ray thought long and hard. He knew if he asked Fraser to stop he’d do so but then he wouldn’t be Fraser. There only one answer he could make. “Yeah, Benny, I am.”
Fraser had known what Ray’s answer would be. “Then I will continue to….” Fraser paused not wanting to say take risks so he opted for something less obvious, “do my duty, Ray, but I have to say with the backup I have I’m sure I won’t come to any harm.”
“Backup?”
“You, Ray.”
“Yeah?” Ray sounded pleased. It was a lot to live up to but no one cared about Fraser more and no one was more determined to keep him safe.
“Yeah.”
Ray took a quick look around and not seeing anybody ever so gently placed a quick kiss on Fraser’s lips.
“Shall we go home?” Fraser asked as they moved to their respective sides of the Riv.
Ray held up a finger. “On one condition. You try not to see any crime on the way home.”
“It’s a deal, Ray.”
Once they were in the Riv on the way home Fraser did his usual trick of looking out of the window, taking in his surroundings. He pointed while Ray was driving. “Oh, Ray, is that a purse snatcher?”
“Fraser!”
“Sorry Ray. Just kidding.” Fraser tried to stifle his giggles.
I don’t believe you,” Ray said, gently punching his lover on the arm, laughing.
It was okay now, they were safe and on their way home and if Ray had anything to do with it this was how it would always be.

Thank you. Glad you got the chance to read it.
Ray understands for them to have a good relationship Benny needs to be himself and Benny realize to keep this relationship that maybe a little more caution will do wonders for them both.
That sums it up very nicely. Yeah with any good relationship there has to be some give and take.

Thank you.
I like how Ray loves the whole Benny package even if the taking risks part drives him crazy.
I do too.

Thank you glad you liked it.
This RayV will never go away to play bad Boy with the Mob, and this Fraser will love him enough that Victoria isn't any danger to destroy them. Endanger them and harm them physical but not more.
Those are very good points. But yes there is no emotional danger to them any more. And I think Fraser might be a little more careful about physical danger too.
And your Story gives me a warm "AAAWWW" Feeling. ^^
Nice. I'm glad.
Thank you kindly. :D
