Shed Challenge (2) by Aingeal
Title: Hair of the Werewolf
Author: Aingeal
Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio
Rating: PG
Notes: This is a sequel of sorts to my fic: By the Light of the Full Moon. It's AU werewolves therefore.
Summary: So whose hair is it all over the bed? And what can Ray and Fraser do about it?
Hair of the Werewolf
“Benny, Dief’s shed on the bed again,” Ray said, examining the sheets.
“Erm, Ray, that’s not Diefenbaker’s hair.”
“Yeah, don’t blame me I’ve not been able to sleep on that bed for months. You two are always on it,” Dief said with a touch of annoyance.
“Whose hair is it then?”
“I believe it’s our hair.”
“Our hair? Benny, I know I’m thinning but I’m not losing hair like that,” Ray joked self consciously touching his hair and running a hand over it.
“Well, not your human hair, Ray; your wolf hair.”
“My wolf hair?” It was then it dawned on Ray. “You mean when we…?”
“Yes, Ray.
“So, not only am I now a werewolf, I’m a werewolf with a shedding problem?”
“Ray, it’s nothing to be concerned about, it happens every summer,” Fraser replied as if it was perfectly normal.
“Well, I haven’t been a werewolf before, Benny. I’ve only just got used to the changing during the full moon thing and the whole extra being able to change into fur legs and fur when I want to thing.”
“Your shape shifting abilities are really improving, Ray.”
“Thank you, Benny, but that doesn’t solve our problem.”
“What problem?”
“The shedding problem.”
“Ah,” Fraser looked thoughtful. “We could sleep on the floor.”
“We are not sleeping on the floor. Can’t we just not change into wolves until summer is over?”
“We’d still transform during the full moon, Ray and it’s not healthy to keep in one form. You have to let the body do what it does naturally.”
“Just like me,” Dief pointed out.
“Yes, thank you, Dief.”
Ray sighed, “Even if that means shedding all over the bed?”
“We can wash it, Ray.” Fraser sat on the bed and then promptly lay down, wiggling a little as he tested it out. “It isn’t that bad.”
“You’re lying in a bed covered in hair.” Ray pointed out spreading his arms out in frustration.
“Our hair, Ray. Which means there’s no health risk to us.”
“It’s still hair.”
“Ray, just try and see how it feels.”
“I know how it’ll feel. It’ll be itchy, Fraser. Itchy and scratchy.”
“You can’t at least try it, Ray.”
Dief sighed. “Benton Fraser, that has to be the most obvious seduction in your relationship so far.”
“I was not trying to seduce Ray.”
“No, you were trying to get me to have an allergic reaction to hair.”
“You’re not going to have an allergic reaction to your own hair, Ray.”
“I might have an allergic reaction to yours,” Ray said hovering at the edge of the bed.
“I doubt it, Ray since you’re familiar with mine.”
“He just wants you on the bed,” Dief pointed out.
“Dief!” Ray chastised.
“Look there is nothing wrong with two mates using the bed for their…martial activities.”
“You and Maggie never used a bed,” Ray said.
“Well, not when we were shedding.”
Fraser spoke up. “Ray, is there any way to convince you to at least try it?”
“We could wash it you said.”
“Yes, although the hair does tend to clog the machines and I don’t want to cause problems for others who might use the machine.”
“So, we do it at my house.”
“I wouldn’t want to break your mother’s machine.”
“Can we brush it off?” Ray asked gingerly trying to remove some of the hair with his hand.
“We could try, Ray. If it bothers you.”
“It bothers me.”
“You know if you get rid of all the hair it’s just going to happen again,” Dief mentioned.
“So, I just learn to live with it?” Ray looked at Fraser. “Don’t give me the big eyed werewolf look, Benny.”
“I didn’t know I had one, Ray,” Fraser replied innocently.
“Well, you do, and it’s different to the big eyed Mountie look. That one is the one you use for getting me to crawl in dumpsters and drop my life to bring you a bag with formal wear in it.”
“What does the big eyed werewolf look do?”
“The look that says like it or not I am going to end up sleeping in a bed covered with my own wolf hair and that I’m going to end up enjoying it.”
“The sleeping?”
Dief wandered to the open window. “I’ll leave you two alone. I just have one piece of advice; maybe if you remembered to change back into human form before you fell asleep next time you won’t get hair on the bed so much.”
“Thank you, Diefenbaker that’s very good advice,” Fraser pled as Dief disappeared down the fire exit.
“You didn’t think of that?
“No, Ray. Are you getting undressed?”
“You wanted me try the bed out right?” Ray asked as he took his shirt off and started work on undoing his laces.
“Yes, Ray.”
“I don’t want hair on my clothes,” Ray replied taking his shows, socks and pants off.
“Ah.” Fraser began to take off his own clothing.
“You don’t need to get undressed, Fraser, hair doesn’t stick to you.”
“But still, Ray I think that I should…”
“You know, Benny, Dief’s right, you’re really making it obvious.”
“But it worked didn’t it, Ray?” Fraser asked as he folded his clothes up and placed them next to the bed.
“Yeah, just remember we’re going to stay like this, okay? Two legs, no fur.”
“Okay, Ray.”
“This hair itches,” Ray pointed out as he lay down next to Fraser on the bed.
“You’ll get used to it, Ray,” Fraser said rolling them over and capturing Ray’s lips in a kiss.
“Yeah, I guess I will,” Ray replied as Fraser placed a love bite on his neck. After-al there were lots of things they could to distract him from the hair on the bed.

I admit this story had me itching throughout - which I hope you'll take as a compliment, which is how I meant it.
Superb banter, as always. And Dief talking to them is wonderful.
Well done.
And prompt??? What did you have in mind? She asks looking at the list.

I shall take it as a compliment, thank you.
It's nice to give Dief osme line for a change.
Glad you liked it.
The prompt is coming...honest.

I love Dief and his voice is just how I'd hear it.
Glad to hear it . . . (I am waiting; I am waiting) *Giggle*
