With humble apologies, since this is exactly what I was ordered *not* to do when I started watching the episodes Kellie sent me... It's just a drabble-and-a-half! Everybody experiments with those!

This arose directly from watching "Spy vs. Spy" ...



“Did you recommend me?”

... “How did you get this number?”

“Not important. Did you? Answer me.”

“Yeah, okay? I did.”

“Is that some kind of fucking joke to you, giving me this job?”

“Jesus. You should not have called. And no. And it was six--”

“It was the end of your marriage.”

...

“And mine, I think. Stel never said she knew, but I think--”

“Shit. I’m sorry.”

“Yeah, well. Me too.”

“Look, they asked me, okay? No hard feelings?”

“Nah. I hope the showgirls are pretty.”

“Yeah, well I know the Canadians are.”

... “Fuck you.”

“Don’t I wish. Better luck to you.”

“You think?”

“I think it could happen.”

“That’s sweet of you. You change this number, right? It was way too easy to get, and I don’t want anything happening. I’d have to deal with your mother. And your sister. And the Canadians.”

“Yeah, I know. Consider it done.”

Lovely job; a great capture of both of their voices and a quick slice-of-life that's just laden with the weight of an unexpectedly shared past. The genuine caring between them is very evident. (Keep disobeying Kellie; we'll just tell her that it's the work of your evil twin or something.)

Oh, I think Ray pops down to the consulate and says something on the lines of 'I know where Vecchio is, and if you give me a kiss I'll tell you' and in the end Fraser's much too distracted to actually get the information from him, which they both know is for the best anyway... ;)
