Community Guidelines
These are mostly the previous guidelines with a couple of alterations for changing times.
- Post your works to this comm until the current challenge is over. Then you are free to post wherever you like
- In line with other due South comms (such as the Big Bang), we will allow 6 Degrees of Canada fandoms to participate. See Fanlore link for info on what that consists of.
- Challenges will run from Sunday to Sunday, with a new one posting every two weeks. You have until midnight Chicago time (UTC-6, or CST) to post for a current challenge. I'll put the new challenge up a few hours before that.
- Tag your entry with the current challenge tag.
- Word Count - Exception to posting on this comm: If you word count exceeds the posting limit, please feel free to post elsewhere and link here. The minimum word count is 100 words.
- Please do not link back to locked journals or elsewhere the members of this comm cannot access.
- Ratings and warnings: Please use the AO3 ratings as well as the major warnings. Additionally, please give consideration to things that do not fall under AO3's major warnings but might be triggering to some.

TYK for your fic links! Will read fic later (I'm at work right now).

...so you can maybe see what I mean about cultural changes over the past decade and change, haha.
Re: How about a bad!fic challenge?
Not to disparage newbies -- all fen were newbies once -- but if a particular fan is like "What if I get assigned something I can't write?? Can't I just treat? Or pinch hit?" and they "need convincing" rather than they jump right in with willingness to "play by the rules" this particular fic challenge just may not suit that particular person or persons. That being said, I still admire your fannish spirit for trying to bring more fen into the dS fold -- I'm working it from the "other end," contacting fen who have written dS but not recently and encouraging them to join this challenge.
And I am totes hearing you on what you're saying about changes in fandom culture. I've been around long enough to remember what it was like to have a fair number of fen in a challenge in this fandom where I'd at least interacted previously with them in LJ or DW or AO3, and in some cases even knew them IRL from going to the same cons.
