The "Summer of '79" Challenge

I got my first real six-string
Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played it til my fingers bled
It was the summer of '69...

Except it wasn't, not even for Bryan Adams, who would have been, what, ten? '79 is a lot more like it.

This challenge comes to us from JennyBee, who did us some lovely college-age Fraser a while back. Write a story in which any of the canon characters are in their late teens to early twenties.
