Apr. 21st, 2003 10:04 pm The edge of the vanity pressed deeply against her belly as she leaned close to the mirror to line her eyes. The yellow light of the bathroom provided the best brightness in the apartment. Ray rubbed his eyes against it as he entered and stopped shuffling to kiss her shoulder. Standing behind her, he looked at her in the mirror. Shaking her head sadly, she sighed, and leaned forward again to line the other eye. Ray stayed where he was and kept watching her. She was never satisfied. Not with her eyeliner, not with her eyebrows, not with him. Ray looked at her belly in the mirror and rubbed his fingers against the red line above the slip. Smiling at her, he said,
“Looks good, Stell.”
“No, Ray. It doesn’t.”
“I like it anyway.”
And kissed her neck, which tasted faintly bitter from her perfume.

Ahhh

Just in these four lines alone you say so much. This is wonderful!

What a lovely little snapshot. You can feel it, their love and its decay. Woobies!
