Upon re-reading this story after seeing it plugged at ds_recs, I realized that I had failed to leave feedback the last time around.
So, this is wonderful. I can totally see a newly-divorced Ray getting into chambara, though my favorite image is his befuddlement over Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence: “never watch [it] when you’re wasted. You spend the whole time thinking you must be one step away from alcohol poisoning because that can’t be David Bowie on the screen, but it is.” And how much do I love it that for once it’s Ray correcting Fraser’s manners?
