258 words of PG-rated Fraser/Vecchio
Benny looked at the gold ring he held and smiled as a wave of memories washed over him.
He remembered a police detective who despite his angry and jaded exterior immediately took Ben into his heart and his home and his family, making the lost and lonely stranger feel welcome and loved.
He remembered a staunchly loyal friend standing by his side through good times and bad, forgiving his all-too-human flaws and failures, and insisting that Benny stand up for himself once in a while.
He remembered the feeling of realizing he was falling in love with Ray and not being able to stop it; and not wanting to.
He remembered finally getting the nerve to tell Ray how he felt, despite his fear that Ray would be very uncomfortable with the situation.
He remembered his sense of disbelief and joy when it turned out that Ray not only accepted his feelings, he reciprocated them.
He remembered experiencing real love for the first time, receiving love from someone who wanted nothing more in return than Ben’s own love.
He remembered kissing Ray and making love with him, feeling completely safe in Ray’s arms. Safe in the knowledge that Ray would never hurt him, and safe to express his own love and passion.
He remembered laughing and arguing with Ray as they planned their future together.
He looked up into Ray’s happy, nervous, smiling face.
Benny took a shaky breath and cleared his throat. “With this ring, I thee wed,” he said; and slipped the ring onto Ray’s finger.
