Heh, yeah, this is you all over. And yeah, it does seem plausible, doesn't it?--that kid we see in canon is not at all "otherworldly" in the way that Fraser sometimes seems to want to present himself; he's a very down to earth kid. Though also, I don't see this as incompatable with "affectionate, literary" care either--I think there's something very like "the good taming of a wild animal" going on here. That sounds wrong but I really did mean to show the above as an act of understanding and love not entirely incompatable with the more traditional accounts of Fraser's upbringing.
