Actually, my instinct is to say before (unless there's some sort of incompatability I'm not remembering). The Ben in Easy Money seems to me to be trying to make some decisions about who he's going to be/ the kind of man he wants to become; the Fraser in my story is just incoherent rage. I think that the "taming' here might allow that other kid to come into being.
