Ray is such a hoot, worrying everything to death, worried that Fraser might be dying or leaving or whatever. I really loved the flow of this, how it sounds so much like how I think Ray thinks about things. People always seem to suggest that it's Fraser who overthinks things, but Ray does that, always expects everything to be more than it is, something different than he wants it to be. It's like he doesn't believe he deserves what he wants, so if it looks like it might be a date, it can't possibly be a date.
And I'm a sucker for Fraser making the first move and all the insecurities that might go with that.
Lovely, lovely story, and not just fluff, but more like a character study and a damn good one.
