Title: Something Fishy
Author: Aingeal
Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Trapped in a cave (in a zoo) with Ray, Fraser starts getting ideas...
Notes: Hope this fits the challenge, there is a cave and they are trapped. It's a bit of fun really. Also unbeta-ed due to rushing to get it done.
Something Fishy
Ray surveyed his current surroundings. It was dark, cold and damp and he was trapped. He glanced at Fraser who was holding his finger up in the air, probably testing for a draft, Ray thought.
“So have you found a way out yet?” Ray asked as Fraser seemed to pause and admit defeat.
“It’s not entirely hopeless, Ray. No doubt the zoo employees will come across us.”
“Benny, we’re in an exhibit that’s been closed for three weeks,” Ray said. He squinted in the gloom. “What is this place for anyway?”
“Ah, this is the cave part of a large habitat enclosure. I think the idea is to allow visitors to walk through recreations of animals natural habitats. When finished this artificial cave will be home of a colony of fruit bats which will fly over the heads of the visitors as they pass through the cave.”
“What did you do, memorise the file on it?”
“I was able to sneak a look at the plans earlier when we were in the director’s office. It’s a very worthwhile project.”
“So what people can be scared by bats flying around them? They’ll probably get bitten.”
“Ray, this is a habitat for fruit bats.”
“What in the dark?”
“Many bats are nocturnal, and even fruit bats are known to be active at night when there’s less chance of predators.”
“Yeah, well, it’s a great idea, but what are we going to do?”
“Well, the entrance and exit are currently blocked by some kind of particle board, which is firmly screwed into the wall. The walls themselves which seem to be made of some of fibreglass.”
Ray wasn’t sure but he thought Fraser was running his hands over the material to test it.
“You wouldn’t happen to have a screwdriver, would you?”
“Benny, do I look like I’m carrying a screwdriver? My toolkit is back in the Riv.”
“Ah.”
“What your hat buckle won’t work?”
“Possibly not, Ray, whilst it is sharp it’s the wrong angle to fit into the screws.”
“Who would have their counterfeiting operation in a zoo anyway?”
“Perhaps because it’s such an unlikely place people wouldn’t think to look here.”
“Yeah, well you got that right. Except you thought of it and now we’re trapped.”
“I had no idea they were armed with clubs, Ray, nor that they would be able to surprise us and leave us in here.”
“Well, there’s always Dief, right?”
“I’m afraid I lost sight of him by the seal exhibit.”
“Great.”
“So what shall we do while we’re waiting, Ray?”
“Hmm I don’t know, Benny, what were you thinking of?”
“This, Ray,” Fraser replied as he took Ray into his arms and gently kissed him.
When the kiss was over Ray smiled. “You find the most romantic spots, don’t you, Benny?”
“Mmmm yes, Ray.”
Ray ran his hand through Fraser’s hair as he initiated the next kiss. “Mmm Benny,” suddenly he pulled back paused. He sniffed the air. “Wait, ewww, what’s that smell?
“I believe some of the artificial rocks were used in the penguin enclosure.”
“They stink,” Ray said moving to the other side of the cave where the small was less pungent.
“You know, Ray, the smell of fish could be considered an aphrodisiac.”
“Yeah, if I was a penguin.”
“Ray?”
“It’s kind of killed the mood, Benny. Not that I’d let you make love to me in this floor anyway, it’s disgusting.”
“It’s not that bad, Ray, there’s a clean spot here,” Fraser said bending down and touching the floor.
“Clean how?
“Well, there’s not as much sand over here.”
“There’s still germs!”
“Ray, Ray, Ray.”
“I’m serious, Benny, there’s probably all kinds of diseases on there.”
“You said the same about the floor in my apartment and…”
“That was different. It wasn’t totally dark and it didn’t smell of fish.”
“It was quite dark, Ray.”
“Not like this,” Ray replied waving his arms about.
“Are you sure your eyes aren’t getting used to the gloom?”
“Maybe,” Ray sighed. “You could have made it easier if you’d worn your red uniform.”
“Ray, the red serge would have not have had the same impact in the dark anyway. In fact it would have looked brown in this light.”
Ray started pacing. “We are not discussing the lighting here, Fraser. We should be looking for a way out.”
“Perhaps if we did have some light…”
“The electrical aren’t wired up, yet, Benny I checked.”
“We could improvise. I remember once when we had a power cut in a small village near…”
“No. I am not having you electrocuted,” Ray said firmly.
“Ray, it’s perfectly safe.”
“No, it isn’t. Safe would be being in bed right now.”
“It’s only 4pm, Ray.”
“Okay fine, safe would be in a closet.”
“This is a like a closet.”
“No it isn’t, it’s like that damn vault all over again.”
“You know, Ray ,I would think it’s more like the padded cell.”
“What is it with you and getting us trapped in small spaces?”
“I have no idea, I’ve always been like this.”
“Have you ever been trapped in a fake cave before?”
“Well, there was a mineshaft, several in fact, and there have been a few caves, though most of those were spiritual.”
“Spiritual?”
“Yes, caves are very useful for meditation purposes.”
“So what we sit here and hum? Ray asked as he sat down leaning against part of the wall that didn’t smell like fish.
“Meditation might be a good way to pass the time,” Fraser agreed as he sat down next to Ray who happily leaned against him, grateful for the body heat.
“Last time we tried it, Benny, we ended up on the floor of your apartment making love, and I’ve already said we’re not doing that on this floor.”
“Ah, if you say so, Ray.”
“You sneaky Mountie! That was your plan was it?” Ray was incredulous though he didn’t stop the body contact.
“I wouldn’t say it was a plan, Ray, it would be happy co-incidence. In fact I have thought that if we make it to the Territories we might…”
“How long have you had this sex in cave fantasy?”
“I’d rather not say, Ray.”
“Come on, I mean there’s nothing else for us to do.”
“If you must know, Ray since we got trapped in the padded cell.”
“You’re serious?”
“Yes, Ray.”
“So the getting me trapped in small places thing was all part of your fantasy?”
“I wouldn’t say that, Ray.”
“But you thought about it.”
“Perhaps but my primary concern was getting us out alive.”
“And now?”
“It’s still the same, Ray.”
“Any more ideas?”
“About getting out?”
“No, Benny about us having sex on the floor.”
“I thought you said we couldn’t.”
“I was being sarcastic, Benny.”
“Ah, well. I would imagine there is an air vent which should be open, after all this exhibit is very enclosed so ventilation would make sense. However, because of the nature of the future inhabitants the vents are too small for us to get through.”
“Well there goes that idea.”
“It does mean however that we won’t suffocate. The vents are working, possibly to make sure the air doesn’t become stale and cause certain bacteria to flourish.”
“And I thought it was to get rid of the smell.”
“Ah well, yes, it might be that.”
“So we’re stuck.”
“Yes, unless the employees come looking for us.”
“At this time?”
“They won’t have finished work yet.”
“Yeah, well what makes you think they’d look for us?”
“They know we’re here.”
“Unless the director was in on it.”
“Ah yes, that’s always a possibility.”
“When are they starting work in here?” Ray glanced around it was too dark to work out if they had or not.
“Next week.”
“By which point we’ll be dead.”
“Oh, Ray we’ll get out before then.”
“Ever the optimist, Benny.”
“I am, Ray.”
“It’s getting cold in here.”
“Shall we share a hug, Ray?”
“Benny!”
“Hugging each tightly will allow us to share body heat.”
“Okay then,” Ray agreed although he didn’t need much persuading. They turned toward each other and Ray wrapped his arms around Fraser’s torso, feeling Benny doing the same to him. He smiled as he found a much better smell than fish; Benny. “This is nice, Benny.”
“Yes it is, Ray.”
“Just don’t get any ideas.”
“You know, Ray, sexual activity does increase the ambient temperature of the body.”
“I’m not that cold yet.”
“Ah well, then.”
“Well, what?”
“Nothing, Ray.”
“Okay, we can kiss each other, kissing is fine.”
“Thank you, Ray,” Fraser smiled and kissed Ray.
In fact the kiss was rather pleasant, nice, long, and slow, the kind Ray went weak at the knees for. That one ended and then there was another and another before finally read world concerns broke the mood.
“Are we going to have to sleep in here?” Ray asked, clearly appalled by the prospect.
“Well, if no-one finds us. But I’m sure someone will come before then.”
“I don’t want to sleep on the floor.”
“We’re sitting on the floor.”
“Thanks for reminding me, Benny.”
“You think we should move?”
“Nah, it’s okay. Maybe we should shout and see if anyone comes to our rescue.”
“Perhaps, but without any moisture in here it wouldn’t be a good idea to make our throats dry.”
“Well, I could shout and then you could kiss me better.”
“Ah I see, Ray. Do you have to be shouting?”
“No.”
“Oh, good.”
“Benny you are not undoing my pants in here, you’re not.”
“Are you sure, Ray?” Fraser asked, hands teasing the material around Ray’s zipper.
“Yes. I told you that fish smell is doing nothing for me.”
“It’s not as bad over here.”
“Don’t sulk.”
“I’m not sulking.”
“You are. I can barely see you and I know you are.”
“Ray.”
“Benny, do you think it’s a good idea?”
“Probably not, Ray.”
“So where’s that Mountie logic?”
“It seems to lose it’s effectiveness when you’re around.”
“Awww, Benny. I love you.”
“I know, ray and I love you and sometimes it makes me…”
“Think of something crazy?”
“Yes, it does.”
“Like sex in this cave?”
“Yes.”
“I’m flattered.”
“You are?”
“Ah, come on, what guy wouldn’t be flattered to know he could do that.”
“Do what?”
“Make a Mountie lose his logic.”
“I have no idea, Ray.”
“Yeah, well, I do and trust me it’s very flattering.”
“Mmmm I’m glad, Ray. Does this mean?”
“Mean what?”
“You’re amenable to?”
“It’s not like we’ve got a pack of cards here. Strip poker’s out.”
“You’d want to play…?”
“Hey, you’re not the only one with an imagination.”
“Apparently not, Ray.”
“Mmm, Benny, be careful.”
“Oh I will be careful, Ray, I will,” Fraser grinned as he started undoing Ray’s pants and this time Ray didn’t say a word, he just drew Benny into another kiss.
Sometime later Ray opened his eyes and groaned.
“I don’t believe we did that.”
“It was rather…intense.”
“Yeah, I never knew you were that good.”
“Thank you, Ray.”
“Look what you’ve done to my clothes,” Ray said, he could tell his Armani was not in the best condition.
“I am sorry, Ray, if it’s any comfort mine aren’t much better.”
“Yeah, it’s the first time I’ve seen your shirt that rumpled, it wasn’t that bad after we did in the closet that time.”
“Which one?
“The fourth one.”
“I remember that one, Ray. It wasn’t as good as this though.”
“No. I mean that was…”
“It was.”
“Satisfy your fantasy did it?”
“Let’s just say the reality was much better than I had ever imagined.”
“I’m warm now. And tired,” Ray yawned.
“Mmm perhaps we should just relax.”
“And wait for someone to rescue us?”
“Yeah.”
“Ah come on that’s never going to…”
Ray was interrupted by a female voice shouting through the particle board of the entrance to the cave.
“Hello! Is anyone in there?”
“What the…?” Ray paused. “Yeah! Hey! We’re trapped can you let us out?!”
“Someone’s coming with a toolkit, hang on we’ll have you out soon.”
“Thanks!” Ray lowered his voice. “How do you do it, Benny?”
“Do what, Ray?”
“Get us rescued.”
“I suspect Dief had something to do with it.”
“Well when we get out he’s getting a doughnut.”
“Just one?”
“Okay maybe a box.”
“Erm, Ray, perhaps we should neaten ourselves up.”
“Without an iron?”
“We can try.”
“Fine.”
It took exactly thirty two minutes and twenty eight seconds for them to be released from their prison during which time they tried to out their clothing in some of an order or made it less obvious the reason behind the rumpled state.
One of the zoo keepers, whose nametag said Helen, was the first to greet them. “Hey, glad we found you guys.”
“Yeah, we are too,” Ray replied, gingerly stepping out in the semi darkness of twilight.
“May I ask how you found us?” Fraser smiled and glanced at Dief stood proudly by Helen’s side.
“Well it was this guy. He must have heard you or something because he raced over here from the other side of the zoo.”
“Really?” Ray gulped. He could swear there was a twinkle in Dief’s eye.
“Ah, yes, thank you, Diefenbaker I think you’ll be getting a reward, isn’t that right, Ray?”
“What?” Ray was still rather perturbed by what Dief may have heard. “I mean, yeah, of course.”
“I’ll leave you two to it,” Helen said as she gave Dief a last pet. “It was nice meeting you. I would have been sacred stiff in there by myself.”
“We did have each other,” Fraser pointed out.
Helen winked at them. “So I heard.” She walked away a smile across her face.
“She knows,” Ray hissed.
“About what?”
“What we got up to in that cave.”
“Oh, Ray I’m sure there’s no need to worry.”
“A zoo keeper knows about our sex life.”
“Well, she doesn’t know everything.”
“Benny! She knows we had sex in that cave.”
“Perhaps but she doesn’t know that we’re going home for a meal and then…”
“Then what?”
Dief barked.
“Yes, Diefenbaker, Ray has promised you doughnuts and I’m not going to argue.”
“Benny, after the meal, then what?”
“Ah, then I’d like to tell you about a fantasy I’ve had about the kitchen table.”
“And then can we at least use a bed?”
“Is that your fantasy?”
“Yeah, why don’t I show you, Benny?”
“I look forward to it.”
Ray smiled. Yeah Benny had some strange ideas about locations for expressing their love for one another but he wasn’t going to complain, not at all. After-all when Fraser out his mind to it, he was really quite inventive.
