I liked the audible/musical quality of it for a dancing theme, counting down lets me put a pin in and be really done with Ray and Stella and that era of their lives in a way counting up didn't (and, conversely, allows for infinite bits of their story to have existed pre-one that I didn't tell), and I liked the idea that we end at the beginning. Because I am a slasher and I slash.
