I would have actually preferred to see RayV stay through Benny's death - to be there for RayK as well as Benny. I lost my father at the end of last summer to lung cancer, when he was sick for less than six months, and I can't imagine how much more devastated I would have been in the months leading up to his death, and in the days afterward, if I was single and living alone. My spouse was an absolute gem with compassion when I was an emotional mess.
I could definitely see RayV putting aside any hard feelings he has for RayK and be there for him, for Benny's sake (too bad he was paired off with Stella and unable to stay).
I also find it very sad, and a little unrealistic, that the visit was the first time that RayV had spent time with Benny.
They were best friends and would probably stay that way even if they were separated by long distances; RayV is the type who makes friends for life, and I thought he had taught that to Benny. I would hope that both Rays would put aside their differences and RayK would allow Fraser to still spend time with RayV (and the rest of the Vecchios too, as I believe they became Fraser's family) even after he and Fraser moved to Canada as a couple. One thing that really irks me about F/K slash is that, in much of it, Fraser and RayK are isolated from everyone else, and Fraser has no room in his life for friends - just RayK. I don't understand that at all, because I think RayV had definitely impressed on him (Fraser) the importance of strong friendships. I'd like to see more F/K slash that recognizes this and allows Fraser to be near his best friend - RayV. RayK can't possibly fulfill all of Fraser's needs; he needs friends as well as a lover.
Other than these picky things from a F/V girl, your story was wonderful. Thank you for writing it.
From a Fraser/Vecchio shipper who still really loved your story - A LOT!
