Title: You've Gotta be Kidding
Author: mizface
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: G
Word Count: a whopping 311
Summary: Fraser asks the impossible
Notes: Last-minute, un-betaed, and all dialogue. My first challenge posting.
“No.”
“Ray…”
“No.”
“But Ray-“
“What part of no don’t you get, Fraser? Do you suddenly not understand English? No, nyet, nein, no way Jose, nope, not gonna happen. N-O, hell no we won’t go, uh-uh, no.”
“Really, Ray you don’t need to be sarcastic.”
“And you don’t need to be so pushy. Do I ever make you do stuff you don’t want to? I mean really don’t want to?”
“Well, in actuality, Ray…”
“Don’t. Just don’t. I am not the one asking the impossible here. And I can’t believe you’re even thinking it’s a possibility anyhow. It isn’t even legal.”
“But the symbolism would be there, and once we got back to Canada it could be. Legal that is. If you wanted it to be, of course.”
“If I want? Where is that coming from?”
"Perhaps it was the lengthy recitation of no’s you just gave. Wouldn’t such a vehement refusal give you pause?”
“No it would not 'give me pause'. Listen, I never said I didn’t want to get married. I’m the one who asked you, remember? That kind of implies that it’s something I want to do. And we will get married. In Canada. Like we planned. Unless you're having second thoughts?"
"Of course not, Ray. It just seemed like an elegant solution to a somewhat tricky situation."
"I don't know from elegance. What I do know is that I will not, under any circumstance, even consider a double wedding with Vecchio and Stella. I don’t care how much it would save on food and invites and travel for everyone.”
“If you’re sure, Ray.”
“I am totally and completely sure about this. I’ve never been surer of a thing in my life. I love you, and I am willing to spend my life in the Fraser Zone, but that would be too weird even for us.”
