Hee--I'm reading this exchange below. You guys are so cute. Stars was my other top choice, but I discounted the American authors early for "higgledy-piggledy" and for "settle" used as a noun. I scratched my head for about 15 seconds (which is a long time) before it hit me: Oh, settee! Couch/sofa/futon, padded bench, those I understand, and I'll give you Chesterfield for our collective obsession with Canada...but settle? Never heard it here, but I've since looked it up, and people with a familiarity with 17th century furniture might certainly use it.
I admit I don't recall seeing British spelling in the text. On the other, other hand (we're talking Whimsy here, I can have as many other hands as I want :), I don't know whether Stars writes K/V.
