I don't know where to begin the list of everything I love about this story. I guess I'll start with Caroline--strong, loving, fiercely protective of her son but not overprotective. I would love to see what Fraser might be like having had her presence and influence in his life always, but that's another story and wouldn't have been right for this one.
Wee!Fraser is perfect in temperament; very much a carefree little boy who also shows the blend of curiosity and humour that continues despite all the icky stuff that happens to him later. And Leaping!Ray is lovely and honest and very in-character.
I love the whole story, but what I keep going back to is the picture of little Ben screaming for his mother over and over. I'm not quoting it because gah, it hurts to think of him --or anyone-- in such agony. I'm very, very glad that Ray was there for him, in this universe at least.
