Absolutely wonderful. Really, I'm quite knocked over by it.
You drew a beautiful portait of little Ben, enthusiastic, dirty, loving, running, jumping, demanding hugs and politely ordering "Steve" around. Caroline was intriguing here, too, as a woman who accepted ghosts and is willing to accept the sudden appearances and disappearances of a man who clearly loves her son.
And then that moment after his Mama's death: From his hiding place, Ray watches him tuck the glove away and stand up to greet his father. It's the first time Ray's ever seen the kid look like Fraser. He stands as still and stiff as if he's on guard duty outside the Consulate. He doesn't reach for his father or run to him, just waits—a little statue on the steps. That just hurt. And then I had to imagine little Ben, knowing his mother wouldn't be coming back, but holding onto that glove, hoping that maybe Steve would, but he didn't, for all those years, it fading into some childish dream of someone who who play with him and care for him. Until Fraser didn't even recognize him when Ray bounded out of nowhere and gave him a hug. *sobs*

What a perfect ending. Just right.
