Oh man, I'm sure I won't be able to recognize the bits from the Victoria speeches. But I'm delighted that you've done that! That seems to be a habit of yours--remixing speeches and such (I think you did that in one of your alternate DW seasons). OKAY, ON TO THE FIC.

Can I just say, probably for the five-hundredth time, that I love the title? BECAUSE I REALLY, REALLY DO. And I'm curious as to whether it's just a pretty title or whether this actually connects up to the original poem at all.

it was damn well Ray's fault for loving the reverberation of Fraser singing against his chest,
That's just utterly beautiful.

WELL HELLO HUDDLING FOR WARMTH! lol, oldest kink of mine. (I think I got that kink from Star Trek: TOS, incidentally. You should watch the huddling for warmth one when I figure out the title again.) Also, I love how sorry Ray is. Oh, RAY.

Wanted to go back to the sliver of white sunrise, spilling out onto the glaring snow under a roil of heavy black clouds,
Hey, hey, visuals! I am delighted!

"Yes, Ray," Fraser said, scary-calm.
Your insistence on using the word "scary" to describe Fraser is not making my need for various creepy/insane!Fraser fics.

the more layers of cloth and fur and warm they bundled up in, the more got stripped away.
HELLO YES. I love things like this.

I like how this fic is also sort of a love letter to the Great Outdoors, and how it's fucking scary and amazing and shit. I blame your perpetually-open window for this.

this sled and his best friend and a queer lightness in his heart.
LOL QUEER. But mostly, I like the word because it's so perfectly fitting for the weird sort of atmosphere they have going here.

He made an embarrassing cartoon noise as he fell over, an arcing little "Ahh!"
!!!!! SALFDKASL

ohgod now I am terrified of snow. DDDDD:

"Westward from the ... Hm-hm Strait, where ...shit."
OH RAY RAY RAY

A blonde blue-eyed sled dog was watching him
OH FUCKING YES. I think this bit was one of the first things you told me about this fic, but that makes me no less delighted by it.

"It's best to conserve warmth by sharing body heat,"
YES. >:)

too near to miss the crazy pounding of Ray's heart, although maybe still far enough away to misunderstand it.
Ooh, that's really pretty and painful, and I approve.

And ugh, ugh, it is the Victoria story, and that's brilliant. JFC.

"you cannot fucking die. You die, I die.
OH, ARIA. THEMMMM.

"--old fish, new -- yeah, Frase?"
MOST PERFECT OF RAYS! *______*

"Oops," Ray said idiotically. "What do I do?"
Ohgod, he's like a damn KID.

OH HEY, SUCKING ON FINGERS. :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I like that you include the actual poem! Aaaaand now I'm seeing how it's completely, totally relevant to them.

Ray dared to smush his experimental hair down in hats in Canada, dared to eat everything Fraser gave him including the freaky bark tea, dared ... dared to let Fraser turn his world inside out and meet his eyes afterward.
That's just fucking beautiful. Just. Yeah, wow.

The next bit reminds me of your play. >:)

and then they got in and lay in each other's arms like they'd been doing it the whole time, still not speaking.
Oh man, I really like that, because it's surprising.

"Oh," Fraser said, in a voice that was shock bordering almost on anguish
. . . Sometimes, I really, really, really like Fraser.

UM, ACCIDENTALLY EPIC COMMENT, OOPS. I LIKED IT? :DDDDDDDD
