I'm a furriner, so I know nothing about the Canadian education system and my research was skimpy.
Samuel Hearne Secondary School
Inuvik
School Report 1974/1975
Student: Benton Fraser
Term: 1
Days Absent: Nil
Academic Result: A
Effort: A
Teacher’s Comment: Benton has had some difficulty adjusting to a large classroom environment, but has made good progress. His academic work is excellent despite some odd gaps, which he compensates for with an in-depth knowledge of somewhat eclectic areas. Becoming involved in sport or other extra-curricular activities may ease the way with his peers. A most promising start to his time with us.
Term: 2
Days Absent: Nil
Academic Result: A
Effort: B+
Teacher’s Comment: Benton’s academic work continues to be of a high standard, but he needs to focus on the more mundane areas of learning and not just those which specifically interest him. His efforts to integrate with his peers have yielded interesting results, however, and I think he has learned to be a little more discriminating.
Term: 3
Days Absent: 1l
Academic Result: B
Effort: C
Teacher’s Comment: Benton has been rather distracted this term. His homework has been adequate, but certainly not up to his previous high standard. If he had directed his considerable focus more towards his studies and lest towards hockey he would have achieved a better result.
Term: 4
Days Absent: Nil
Academic Result: A
Effort: A
Teacher’s Comment: Benton has worked hard this term at achieving a balance between his school commitments and his other interests, with a high degree of success. His contribution to the school community will be missed next year.
