"Constable?"

"Yes, Inspector?"

"Please hold any calls for me; I will be in conference."

"Very good, Inspector."

The phone rang.

"Aren't you going to answer that?"

"Excuse me, ma'am , but I can't very well tell them you're not here if you're ... here."

"Oh, please!" She threw a glare at him and stalked back to her office.

He picked up the receiver. "Canadian Consulate, Constable Turnbull speaking. No, I'm sorry, the Inspector is not available."

A muffled thump came from behind her office door.

"Where is she? I really couldn't say, sir."

Probably on the rug in front of the fireplace, from the sound.

"I believe she said she'd be tied up for most of the afternoon."

Not precisely a lie...
