movie challenge, by

fraser/kowalski, rated: submarines, 263 words.
"Why?"
Always has to argue, Fraser does. Pisses Ray off.
"I got a feeling. It's a hunch, it's a feeling. Go that way."
Jumping off buildings, getting handcuffed to sinking boats, and now he's lost in the middle of the ocean in a goddamn yellow submarine with Sergeant Preston of the Yukon. It's ridiculous. He never used to get these wack-job cases, before this assignment. At this point, John Lennon could come back from the fucking dead and kiss Welsh full on the mouth in the middle of the 2-7 and Ray swears he wouldn't bat an eyelash.
"Yes, but there's absolutely no reason why-"
That's not what pisses him off the most, though. It's that through all the jumping and the sinking and the almost-drowning and the buddy-breathing - and he still can't quite wrap his brain around that one - he's always following. Following Fraser, for god's sake, the guy who licks caribou tracks for fun. It's like the worst kind of buddy-cop movie, the kind with the smart-mouth patter and the ridiculous plots that his life is beginning to resemble. He hates those movies, and he hates this situation, but mostly, he just hates following all the time.
"Look, Fraser, just this once. Just this once. I trust you. Every single time, every single time I got to trust you. Just once you trust me. Go that way."
He hates being the sidekick.
Fraser sighs, real quiet. "That way?"
Ray breathes in. Maybe the communication thing is coming back for them. "Yeah." Seems like Fraser's starting to get it. "That way."
