But I got to it first!

Door
by Persian Slipper
A/N: Un-beta-ed and written in calc class.

He stood there, frozen. This was a pivotal moment, upon which his future hinged. He just wasn’t sure which door would open before him.

It had been building since the first oblique conversation beside the campfire, which had led to those first tentative fumblings beneath the aurora borealis. When he had reached his hand out over the Beauford Sea and Ray took it in his own, the next connection had been joined. This dovetailed into his suggestion that night that they stop at his father cabin on their return journey.

Now he was here, looking at the door to his future. He could hear Ray behind him, tending to the dogs, unaware of his turmoil.

"Hey, Ben, what’s the hold-up?" Ray asked, and then looked where he was staring.

"Aw, hell," Ray said, then picked him up, pushed the door to the cabin open, and carried him over the threshold.

Wonderful. Romance. Pragmatism. I dig it.

Cute.

And the best way I have yet encountered to spend a math class!

As an actual math teacher (well sort of, kinda and *not* Calculus) I feel it needs to said you should be doing math in math class. Unless you're writing great little things like this.
