I never meant to write anything for this challenge, and it was very early in the morning when I wrote it. Blame it on that.

The day is couched in formal words and phrasing that flow over and through me. The slim silver band on his finger is the only thing that anchors me; his eyes seldom leave my own hand, where its twin now rests.
We make our promises to each other; the official declaration echoes in our ears. It's over. It's just beginning.
When we arrive home, I suggest we go where tradition demands. Ray smiles and slides long fingers around my wrist, leading me, and when we tumble down together, we make a start at devoting ourselves to words of one syllable.
