ADMIN POST: Make-Up Challenge

There were a lot of great challenge suggestions--and please do suggest others!--so for the moment I'm going to take them roughly in order.

By my watch, it's Monday. Between now and next Monday, let's do:

The Make-Up Challenge.

The Make-Up challenge can be any number of things: making up in the sense of reconciliation, as Callie suggested; making-up in the sense of cosmetics, cosmetic alteration, or make-up as part of the plot--(lipstick stains, anyone?); or making up in the sense of fabricating/ lying/ making something up, as Beth H suggested. Feel free to be creative and to do more than one.

Also, the question came up about putting these stories on your own sites--yes, of course! they're your stories! but I'd like to request that you wait until the end of the challenge week. Let's think of this as a weekly zine that times out once the challenge is over, so that for the one week this is the only place where you can get these stories, and then after that, all rights revert back to individual authors. That work for everyone?

Well, hmm. Yes. All challenges will be 100-1000 words.

Thing is, "flashfiction" has been defined as 100-1000 words, and while I personally am not going to go around counting words, and you saw aerye flagrantly breaking the rules (wagging finger), I wouldn't want in my formal ADMIN role to say that word count doesn't matter, because the point is to encourage participation, and I don't want to do anything that discourages the generation of shorter, more exploratory fic. I want people to feel free to dash off "Hey, I want to see Welsh in lipstick!" (which, don't we all?) and write a 300 word snapshot without somebody posting "War and Peace" as their entry.

Nuh-uh. With Six You Get Eggroll (Kick'em in the Head: A Guide to Parenting) is the sequel. Of course, Pip was never mentioned. Why is that, Cess?

Of course, I'm still hoping for a sequel to *that*...

(and yes, I had to type out the *whole* title, 'cause I love the subtitle. best subtitle *ever*.)

"Moby Dick" *is* awfully slashy, innit? The first third of the book especially -- I mean, my God, they sleep together. ;-)

I suppose this probably means I'd be susceptible to Hornblower, if I'd ever a) read any of the books or b) seen any of the footage besides the lovely clips in Killa's vid that I saw at Escapade. Ah, well. I need another fandom like I need a hole in the head, so I might as well content myself with what we've got here...
