Where I Belong

By

Sanguine

The first time Ray Kowalski kissed me, touched me, loved me, it was raining.

I had been fishing when the first drops started coming down. By the time I gathered up all the equipment and headed back to the cabin Ray and I owned, the rain was coming down in sheets, the cold wind and rain taking my breath. I was shaking from the cold by the time I reached our home.

I trudged up the stairs onto the porch and Ray jerked the door open. "Put your stuff down." When I hesitated, he pointed and scowled. "There." Unable to do more than shiver, I nodded and leaned the fishing pole against the bench and set the cooler and tackle box next to it. "Come here."

I stepped inside onto a bright rag rug and shivered as cold rivulets of water streamed down my body to pool on the rug below my boots.

Dief rolled his eyes at me from where he lay curled up on his chair.

"Hang on," Ray said gruffly. He placed a blanket in front of the wood stove and then he gestured for me to start undressing myself. I slowly pulled my sweater over my head, exposing my skin to the warmth of our home. It felt good.

I made no move to undo my jeans... instead, I watched him as he knelt in front of me, his long fingers making quick work of the laces on my boots. I longed to touch his hair.

"Lift your foot." I did, and he slid my boot off and then peeled my sock off and set them aside. Then he repeated the same with my other foot. When he finished, he smiled up at me and his hands reached for the zipper and snap of my blue jeans. I swallowed hard, and what he saw in my eyes, I do not know, but he hesitated. I reached for his hands and he watched me steadily as I took his hands in mine. "Ah, Ray."

"Fraser." Just my name, but said with such affection and gruff tenderness, I smiled. Ray stood, tugged my jeans and underwear down and kicked them aside after I stepped out of the clammy, cold material.

I should have felt awkward or uncertain, I suppose, being naked in front of Ray, but I didn't. He had me sit down on our couch and then he covered me up with the now warm blanket. I reached for him and he placed his hand on my cheek. "Wait."

I watched as he went to the kitchen and made me some cocoa, and as I watched him move around our small home, I realised how much I did truly love him.

After the cocoa had been drank, and the fire banked for the night, and Ray moved Dief's bed slightly closer to the fire, Ray followed me into my bedroom and as the rain poured down the glass of the windows of our home, Ray's mouth found mine. As we tumbled to the bed, his hands mapped the surface my body as he squirmed against me. My tongue tasted the sweat that sheened his skin as we made love, and my arms held him tight as I whispered, "I love you, Ray," against his throat.

"Me too, Fraser," he murmured, his hand on my back as we lay tangled together. "Me too."

The rain continued to fall, and I smiled and closed my eyes, listening to it as I drifted to sleep in his arms, where I belong.

God, this was so completely gorgeous. You paint a lovely picture of the two of them, so completely tender, but still very, very much them, still very, very much guys. I just adore Ray, all scowls, but so damn caring. And the cabin, the rain sluicing down outside, the warmth within: it's just lovely.
