This one comes to us from Stinky, who noted perceptively that DS canon itself offers us a terrific challenge. In Chicago Holiday we get the following exchange:

Fraser: You know, I ran away once when I was your age.
Christina: Tell me another one.
Fraser: No, I did. In my case it was different. I thought I'd done something that no one could forgive. It didn't take long for my father to find me. But you know, instead of lecturing me, he offered me some food and some money. He said I could keep running if I wanted to but that I would always feel ashamed. On the other hand, if I went back and faced the consequences, I would be a man, and everyone would know it without me having to tell them.
Christina: What were you running away from?
Fraser: Oh, it was a very tortured scenario. It involved a gold mine, a boomerang and a tank full of gasoline. It's all ancient history, though.

Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to write that tortured scenario. There are two ways to answer the challenge: 1) go back and write the scene as set in time; in other words, what situation, involving a gold mine, boomerang, and tank full of gasoline caused Fraser to run away from home? or 2) Write a story, set at any time, that involves a gold mine, a boomerang, and a tank of gas as key elements.

Today's Wednesday by my watch; stories will be due next Wednesday at midnight.
