Then and Now

Today was going to be the day.

Frannie stared at her bare face in the mirror, then slowly starting putting on the day's makeup.

Today, Fraser would notice her and wouldn't pull away.

Lipstick shouldn't be too dark. Bright and cheery was the way to go.

Today, he would look at her and say, "Francesca, would you like to share a meal together sometime? Perhaps tonight?"

She would smile, just this side of coy, and pretend to need to think about it.

He would blush and she would let him off the hook. She'd say straight-out, "Fraser, I would love to go out with you."

Frannie blew a kiss at her reflection.

Today, Fraser wouldn't let her down.

Yesterday didn't matter. Only right now.

Today was going to be a good day.

To me Frannie's optimism is both her greatest strength and her biggest flaw. I love how you captured that.

And I totally agree with you on Frannie. Her best quality is also what gets her hurt the most. She'll fail and then she'll go right on and try again the next day. And most likely get hurt again.

She really is such a sweet woman. And I'm so... proud of her in Call of the Wild. I really think that my favorite thing about Season Three (despite my great love for Kowalski) is that the main females stopped being All About Fraser. They shipped off Elaine, whose whole purpose was to long for Fraser, and they did it by making her a cop. They gave Frannie a purpose and a life beyond Fraser and then let her grow up. We met Fraser's sister, and a woman who didn't really like Fraser much - Stella. We got to see Meg in the field and then realize that she and Fraser and too Country (well, Artic) Mouse and City Mouse to work. And we got a tough woman, capable career woman who was also a mother in Janet and I have a soft spot for Ladyshoes, who tried and failed to play Fraser.

Okay, essay much?

What are those toys that wobble but don't fall down? Whatever they're called, Frannie one of them. Whenever I think of her in COTW with Fraser in the hospital, I feel like giving her a hug, she's grown up so much. SO here you have her still in process. I admire her optimism and tenacity - you show that so well.
