The Mountie and the wolf

The Mountie and the wolf - that’s the way I met them and that’s the way they still are. Except I’m part of it now if I can believe Fraser that Dief told him so - a pack, with the wolf as leader.
Yes, 'told' 'cause Fraser talks to Dief like he is a person and understands everything he says.
It’s embarrassing sometimes but I got used to it, I don’t call him a freak anymore for doing so.
Sometimes I’m worried about it 'cause how healthy can it be to talk to a wolf and not to somebody else? Like me.
And sometimes I got jealous about the wolf knowing everything about Fraser, spending his entire time with him.
That's why I ended up with a wolf in my apartment and a pizza between us 'cause as soon as food is involved Dief forgets all his manner. And I swear to God the wolf talked to me – I didn't understand everything he told me 'cause he lives with Fraser and talks Canadian but I got the picture anyway.
First he made it very clear to me that he wouldn't break Fraser's trust in him, so no questions!
But he told me about how they met and that even as a pup Dief knew he was more capable of facing life than his new found friend. And so he adopted Fraser to keep an eye on him, to keep him safe.
But time and mostly the incident with Victoria made it clear to him that he could protect Fraser's body but not his heart, that he could provide warmth on a cold night but not intimacy, that he could hunt to save him from starving but not satisfy his hunger for closeness.
He needed another mate to protect the maybe weakest member of his pack.
