Ray had always hated blue pens. It'd started when the officer at the 16th had written "urinated in his pants" in blue ink while a 13-year-old Ray Kowalski had stared miserably at the page.

It continued with various comments on his report cards; "Stanley is wasting his potential." or "Stanley is disruptive in class."

He'd been given a blue pen to sign his college withdrawal form, and yet another to sign his divorce papers.

He got over his hatred signing "Ray Kowalski" in blue on the line at the bottom of a form titled "Application for Canadian Citizenship."
