"I’m not going to always be doing this! Look, as soon as I get done with this assignment I’ll turn in my badge... Hello? Hello? Ah FUCK!"
On his forty-third birthday, his wife left him. The next day he got promoted to a desk job.
"Angie, Angie, don’t hang up, don’t, ah fuck."
His forth year as a lieutenant, he met Ray Vecchio, and saw his marriage played out again.
"Stella! Come on! Stella... STE... ah fuck!"
Two weeks after Ray Kowalski walked into his precinct, he realized how tired he was of the same old song.
"Ray, Ray, Ray, RAY! The lieutenant already knows."
The moment he saw the mountie after the two of them came back from his adventure, he knew he was two detectives short, but he couldn’t help smiling.
The next day, he asked his neighbor Charlene to have dinner with him, and she said yes.

you know, lucy hale wrote a really, really, really long welsh/turnbull story, but i forget what it was called. it was very good, and oddly believable.
