650 words of F/K. Thank you to Lyra Sena for excellent beta.

The moment seemed to last an eternity. A second ago, things had been fine, normal as always -- but now one of them had moved, had adjusted his sofa cushion and shifted into the other's space, perhaps, and Fraser found himself frozen, his face only a few inches away from Ray, his breath caught in his throat, Ray's eyes fixed on his.
Fraser licked his lips, and he saw Ray's eyes flicker down to his mouth, and back again to his eyes. "Fraser--"
There was a tone of danger in Ray's voice. Fraser jerked his head away and stood up.
"Fraser?" Ray said again.
"I have to confess something to you." Fraser turned away from the couch and placed his hands together behind his back. "I have found myself, in the last few months, in a very disturbing position," he said seriously to the wall.
"Disturbing how?" Ray's voice contained what seemed to be a mixture of confusion and suspicion.
Fraser inhaled a deep breath, letting it out slowly.
One, two, three.
"I find you ... very attractive. I find *myself* attracted to you. I have reason to believe that these feelings are not entirely unrequited. Unless I am mistaken, and I don't think I am. There are a number of indications of attraction among human beings, such as dilated pupils, body language, though of course--"
"What the hell are you talking about?"
Fraser sighed and rubbed his eyebrow. "As I said, I am very attracted to you. I feel, however, that our professional interaction would preclude anything more coming of this attraction." He chanced a look back to Ray, who sat on the couch still, leaning forward toward Fraser, his brow furrowed. One of his long legs, wrapped in worn denim, was slung casually in front of him. Ray's foot was bare, and freckled; one of his hands lay lightly upon it, his thin and elegant fingers wrapped around the curve of his ankle.
"A sexual relationship would be ... inappropriate," Fraser ended, slightly weakly.
Ray stared at him. "Huh," he said after a moment. He stood up and took a step closer to Fraser; Fraser could see his teeth pulling at his lower lip as he thought.
"So what you're saying is," Ray said slowly, meeting Fraser's eyes, "is that you and me, we're partners, so that's out. None of that hanky-panky. It'd be *inappropriate*."
"Yes."
Ray paused another moment, and then nodded. "Okay. Yeah. I see where you're coming from, Fraser."
His hand came out, resting on Fraser's bicep, and Fraser stared in mild shock.
"What about necking? You got any rules on that?" Ray said softly. "Would kissing be ... appropriate?"
Ray's eyes were extremely dilated. Beyond any reasonable doubt. His body language was beyond suggestive, as well.
"I--" Fraser felt a little out of breath, but he regained control of himself. "I see no reason why not," he said, finally, and a smile shot suddenly across Ray's face.
"Okay, then." Ray's voice had lowered, as well, becoming raspier, more breathless. Another sign of arousal. His fingers tightened on Fraser's arm, and he set his other hand down upon the nape of Fraser's neck. Fraser's own hands seemed to fit perfectly on Ray's hip, and on his back.
They kissed standing in the center of the room for a too-short time before Ray pulled away.
"Like junior high all over again," he said, grinning. "Come on. Couch is comfier."
Fraser nipped lightly at the lobe of Ray's ear, and allowed himself to be pulled along to the sofa. Kissing was surely -- there was no problem here at all. Partnership was a brilliant thing, Fraser thought, kissing Ray again; he was amazed once again by Ray's unorthodox approach to problem-solving.

Unless I am mistaken, and I don't think I am. There are a number of indications of attraction among human beings, such as dilated pupils, body language, though of course--" so Fraser.
