100 words. F/K if you squint.

Lying, by Girl Clone
Fraser sometimes thinks he's slipping out of synch with this world. He feels like he is a folktale that nobody believes in anymore. That eventually nothing will be left of him but a life size cardboard cutout Mountie that Inspector Thatcher could prop up outside for guard duty.

Even now he thinks he can see the world looking a little flatter, a little grayer.

Until long fingers encircle his wrist. And the world snaps back to three dimensions. “Frase, are you OK?”

He looks up into the blue eyes that are, for the moment, anchoring him here. “I'm fine, Ray.”

Dude, I so envy people who can write something amazing in 100 words.

You're one of them. This is absolutely wonderful.

I haven't read a ds ff in AGES, but this one was so short and didn't have a cut tag, and besides, it is just delicious. Thanks.

Brief but no less beautiful. The long fingers got to me in a big way! And this

He looks up into the blue eyes that are, for the moment, anchoring him here. “I'm fine, Ray.”

Guh. Wonderful.

Great stuff - tells the story and not a word wasted (or cut out to get the word limit)

Oh, I loved this. Short, to the point, and so poignant. I feel the same as Fraser, some days.

I'm amazed, as ever, by your ability to express so much with 100 words. And I'm squinting ... the view looks fine!

short and sweet.

That eventually nothing will be left of him but a life size cardboard cutout Mountie that Inspector Thatcher could prop up outside for guard duty.

I really like this image, because I think Thatcher really does use him in such a way.
