Vecchio Double-Drabble and change.
May. 5th, 2003 01:53 pmThanks to RubyRose (who is not (yet) on LJ, this place is being widely read, I think!) for beta.
I woke up with most of this worked out in my head on Sunday morning. It made me get up.
Should anyone feel called to comment, feel free to be as critical as you want to be. Maybe I'll agree, maybe I won't, either way I'll learn something and learning is cool. :)
"Ray?"
Ray tunes her voice out with practiced ease. He's watching the game. So it's a rerun. So?
"Ray."
Ray defiantly grabs another handful of nachos.
"Come on Ray, you said we would talk when you got home. You promised."
Yeah. So she would give him a rest already.
"Raaaaaa-aaaaaay"
God, he hates when she does that, and now she'll--
"Ray, dammit!"
--raise her voice. Well two can play that game.
"Shit Angie, can't you give me some peace and quiet for five minutes, even? God, you sound just like my mother! No, you sound like my mother, my sisters and my lieutenant all rolled in to one. 'Ray do this, Ray do that, Ray I really want to discuss your attitude.' What the fuck do I have to do to get some peace and quiet at home?"
"Fine." She slams the bedroom door behind her.
"Fine," he mutters to himself, and sullenly settles down to watch the rest of the game.

"Ray. Ray, Ray, Ray, Ray, Ray," Benny says.
Vecchio struggles to maintain his concentration as he finishes typing up the report. Then he smiles and turns around. "What is it, Benny?"
Fraser smiles back, and for a moment Ray has to look down. He thinks about calling Angie, sometimes, to apologize maybe. But he doesn't think he'd know what to say.

Date: 2003-05-05 07:11 am (UTC)Can I just say I love the 'wooden pegs' snippet over in your journal? I read the original version ages ago when it was a mere comment, and now I find it's all grown up and has it's own entry. :)
