Mix and Match Challenge - One Word
Jun. 3rd, 2005 04:11 pmI’ve been AWOL, I know. It’s a long story. This was going to be, but after I wrote the last line, it just sorta stopped, and for once, I let it. 153 words.
“Harding, you old bastard, how the hell are ya?”
“As always, Dave, as always. What brings you down to the 27th?”
“Scolari. Some crazy man in a red coat said he worked here. Do you really got a mountie?”
“Yeah, FRASER!”
“Yes, Leftenant?”
“Help the gentleman out - he has questions about the Scolari bust.”
“Of course, how may I help you?”
“By telling me how Scolari ended up in my precinct handcuffed to an accordian monkey. But first, I gotta ask. What is a mountie doing in Chicago?”
“It’s a long and involved story which takes approximately two hours to tell, but to summarize, I first came to Chicago on the trail of the killers of my son...”
********
Note: I wrote this then caught up on the other posts and realized how similar it was to shrewreader’s Cabbage Leaves . I yanked it off the journal, but have decided to post it anyway. I imagine there will be some other overlaps along the way.

works for me...
Date: 2005-06-03 09:35 pm (UTC)So... how did Scolari end up handcuffed to an accordian monkey?
Re: works for me...
Date: 2005-06-03 11:32 pm (UTC)As for the question, well I'm not even sure what an accordian monkey is! I think I meant an organ grinder's monkey, but it made me smile after I realized I got it wrong so I left it in. The visual appeals to my sense of whimsy...
Thank you.

Date: 2005-06-04 02:19 am (UTC)The accordian player, see, lost his arm in a freak row-boating accident. The monkey is all that allows him to continue his craft.

Date: 2005-06-03 11:35 pm (UTC)Thanks. Saying it's good to be back is such an understatement! Now I need another amnesty challenge so I can post all these stories buried on my hard drive. I swear I found one I don't even remember writing...
