I've had another 100-word idea.
Do-It-Yourself
Ray's hand moved up and down, up and down, fingers curled tight. As his muscles flexed rhythmically, light rippled over the dense black and red of his tattoo. He gave two final, hard thrusts, followed by a grunt of satisfaction.
Standing back, he rested the roller in the paint tray. 'Hey, Ben', he called over his shoulder, 'buttermilk is a cool colour!'
'It's very fetching, Ray', replied Fraser, over by the sink where he was washing brushes. He zipped up his jeans with one hand and held the other under the running water. Cream mingled with cream, and swirled away.
Note: I've spent the past few weeks surrounded by paint pots, solvents and other noxious substances. I think the fumes went to my head.

Loved the bait and switch, and it would be just like Fraser to come up with a bland comment like that to disguise his own lascivious behavior. *G*

Date: 2003-05-14 01:36 am (UTC)It's addictive, isn't it? Yes, though I feel a terrible fraud. It's not like I've had to worry about plot, or backstory, or characterisation, or dialogue or all the other stuff that real writers deal with! Still I'm just amazed I've had the courage to post anything at all.

Date: 2003-05-14 12:21 pm (UTC)Most of the writers I know feel like terrible frauds. I know I do. :) Welcome to the club. I get a lot of help and encouragement from several people who are far better writers than I am, and they all tell me that the key is practice. You're off to a really strong start -- I'm sure people wouldn't have guessed how new you are to this if you hadn't told us. I'm glad you posted, and I hope you keep posting.
