Title: Knives
Characters: Ray (could be either one, take your pick!), Fraser.
Words: 100
Warnings: Angst, language.

Ray thinks of that fucking knife, his knife, sharp and brilliant in its sheath of dull leather. It fucking hurts, hurts in his chest when he wonders into the kitchen and his eye catches the blunt ones, prosaic and harmless on the drying board.

He always thought there’d be a chance; always a good life or at least some shot at happiness in it. He thinks of swords on his skin and painful pressure.

But Fraser’s tongue, wrapping up those soft apologies and a careful, awkward refusal; bright red in sympathy with his embarrassed, awkward face, is much, much sharper.

In my mind it's RayK. But that's just me :) I have had a plot bunny that has been driving me nuts for ages, specifically about one of the guys advancing on the other but then getting rejected. I may actually have to get my ass in gear and write it now as this is perfect inspiration!

In 100 words, you've got across a hell of a lot - grooviness all round.

God, this hurts! I hate it. It's brilliant, but I hate it. Damn you.

(And kudos, obviously.)

This story will haunt me for a long time - your twist on the title is stunning! And, oh my god, so very realistic and heartbreaking...I think it also best fits w/Ray K, too, since any attraction Ray V felt for Fraser would have been strictly channeled into being 'just buddies'. Thanks for sharing! Donna M.
