Just curious, but why are you waiting a day to issue the new challenge? You have a list of challenge suggestions to choose from lined up, right? I'm just asking, because I feel kind of restless, challenge-less.

Not that I can speak for Ces, I don't even really know her except for her fic and her advice, but if you look at the time of her post, I think she posted in wee hours of the morning and she may mean "today" instead of "tomorrow."

Then again, I could just shut my mouth, but have I ever really done that before?

Yeah, but whether it is tomorrow or 'later today', I don't understand why there is time between challenges. The 'this challenge is closed' post could also function as the 'and the new challenge is...' post. Instead we are challenge-less. We are challenge challenged! I was just wondering why.

The answer is that the "list of challenges" is a little provisional--like, somebody sends me an email saying: threesomes! parents! kinky footwear! and I actually have to think for a minute about how I want to frame that as a challenge. Also, I'm trying to frame and vary the challenges so that, say, they're not solely slash-focused each time (or they invite gen responses), or solely boy-focused, or solely Kowalski-focused. So there's some thought involved.

Mainly, though, the answer is--"Because." *g* Because the obsessive- compulsive in me finds it pleasing that we tidy up our old challenges and archive them neatly before we embark on new challenges. It's like putting your toys away. I'm also liking that we're rotating around the week, so that our sixth challenge is now on the sixth day--Friday. I think that's fair to people who have different writing rhythms, and it puts the weekend in different places in the challenge-week. But in any case, you're talking about a matter of hours between the close of one challenge and the opening of another later the following day--so get some sleep! Have a sandwich! *g*

Ack! The notification mail for this one got buried under a bunch of stuff. So, a very belated: Thanks for the explanation. The thing that made me restless was that the delay was such that I lost almost a day of challenge-ruminating to it a couple of times (because of when I could and couldn't access LJ). Just my bad luck, I guess, like when you have one of those 'I'll meet you at the restaurant' things go wrong and you spend an entire evening acting out an unlikely comedy plot of being exactly where the person you agreed to meet just left.

How about a Sentinel challenge? Conspicuous use of one or more of the senses. (And yes, you can use the 6th sense if you like.)
